The problem
Store managers ordered stock by phone and paper forms, so the distribution centre planned deliveries on guesswork. A full stock count closed the store for a night, and shrinkage only showed up at quarter-end.
What we built
A handheld app that lets staff count one shelf at a time during opening hours, order from a suggested quantity and check deliveries against the order. A web console turns every store’s order into picking waves at the distribution centre.
Key features
Barcode counts shelf by shelf
Suggested orders from sales and stock
Delivery receiving with discrepancy notes
Distribution centre order console
How the 4-week sprint went
Listen & prototype
Worked a night count with store staff and prototyped the scan-and-count flow on a handheld.
Core build
Built counting, ordering and receiving, connected to the POS sales feed and distribution centre stock.
Live & handover
Piloted in the stores served by one distribution centre and handed over the rollout plan.
