The problem
The client wanted gamers in Singapore to trade pre-owned console games without the risk of dealing with strangers. Buyer and seller never meet or pay each other directly: every trade goes through a partner store, where staff inspect the game before the buyer gets it. The client asked for a market as transparent as a trading floor yet simple for casual players, and one dashboard for its staff to run it day to day.
What we built
We built a web marketplace for gamers in Singapore to trade pre-owned console games: sellers list each game at their own ask, buyers take the lowest ask or place an offer backed by a refundable deposit, and the two match automatically. The seller drops the game at a partner store within 5 days, staff check it there, and the buyer collects it with a QR pickup code. The platform holds the money throughout. An operations console tracks every order against its deadline and handles inspections, disputes and withdrawals.

What we were asked to solve

01 / 08
Every title shows its asks and its offers
- The problem
- The client asked for live pricing that shows supply and demand at a glance.
- What we built
- Each title in the catalogue shows the lowest ask, the top offer and how many sellers and buyers are active before anyone opens it. Players filter by console, sort by activity or price, and watch a title to hear about new listings and price drops.

Sellers set the price and the drop-off store
- The problem
- The client asked for listing that stays simple for sellers.
- What we built
- A seller adds a game to the Stash with an ask price and the partner store where they will drop it, with the current lowest ask and highest offer under the form. When an offer meets the ask, the match is automatic and the seller has 5 days to drop the game off. A ticker across the top shows matches, inspections and new offers as they happen.

An offer locks a deposit until a match
- The problem
- The client wanted two ways to buy, at the lowest ask or with an offer, and a clear line between refundable deposits and fees.
- What we built
- The title page shows the lowest ask with a buy now button and the ask price history. An offer below the ask locks its amount in the buyer’s wallet as a deposit, and the buyer picks the partner store for pickup. The S$2.50 fee is charged only when a seller accepts, and the full deposit returns if there’s no match, the buyer cancels or the seller misses the drop-off.

Drop-off, check and pickup in one order
- The problem
- The client asked for order tracking that stays clear from match to pickup.
- What we built
- Every order moves through matched, drop-off, inspection, ready for pickup and completed. A seller sees which store to use and the day to drop the game off by, and a buyer gets a QR pickup code once the game passes the store’s check. Both show their order code at the counter.

One wallet for deposits, top-ups and withdrawals
- The problem
- The platform holds players’ money, so the client asked for a wallet that keeps the available balance apart from locked funds.
- What we built
- The wallet splits the total balance into what is available and what is locked in deposits. Top-ups come in by PayNow, withdrawals go to a bank account once the player is verified with Myinfo, and the history lists each deposit and top-up.

Every order against its deadline
- The problem
- The client’s staff needed to see the order pipeline and catch orders at risk of missing their deadlines.
- What we built
- The control room opens on the order pipeline, each stage with its orders coloured by how close they are to the deadline, and a list of what needs attention. An overdue drop-off opens with the seller’s missed drop-offs this month and the buyer’s locked deposit. Refunding the buyer is the main action, though staff can still extend the window. One more missed drop-off suspends the seller.

Four checks before the pickup shelf
- The problem
- Every game had to pass an inspection by store staff before it reached the buyer.
- What we built
- Staff tick four checks before a game moves to the pickup shelf: the disc surface, the case and artwork, the manual and inserts, and whether it is authentic and the right region. A fail takes a reason and refunds the buyer. Disputes raised after pickup sit beside the queue, where staff refund the buyer, release the money to the seller or ask the store to check again.

08 / 08
Withdrawals released to verified players
- The problem
- The client asked for withdrawal approvals and identity check reviews in the same dashboard as the orders.
- What we built
- Finance shows the players’ money the platform holds, split into offer deposits and money in active orders, beside the platform fees and the withdrawals waiting. Each request lists the amount, the bank account, the Myinfo status, a risk signal such as repeated failed inspections or a shared device, and how long it has waited. Staff approve or hold each one, or approve all the low-risk ones together, and a request without Myinfo stays blocked.
How the 8-week build went
Listen & prototype
Requirements with the client’s team, then a clickable prototype of the marketplace and the operations console, revised in week 3 before the build.
Core build
Built matching, the wallet with PayNow top-ups and locked deposits, drop-off and inspection at the partner stores, and Myinfo checks before withdrawals.
Live & handover
Launched the web marketplace with its console, set up the inspection checks with partner store staff and handed over source code, documentation and admin access.
